My name is Alejandra Amaya I like people call me just Ale! I am 25 years old. I have two beautiful children; one boy who is 4 years old and one girl who is 3 years old. I am studying english for teaching at the Don Bosco University, in El Salvador. This is my fourth year . I chose this major not only like a proffesion else but because I really want to be a teacher. I love learning different kind of languages, I can speak english, italian and in this moment I am studying french at the University and also I am taking the courses in The Alianza Francesa. In 2009 I graduated in English from Academy Europe, I started my studies in english since I was 12 years old but at the beginning was because of my fathers´ pressure but then with the past of the time I got consciousness the important of learning and speaking another language had it .
When I sterted the University I did it in the major of tourism but after one year I switched to teaching because I really conceived that what I really liked was teaching, and now that I am about to finish I do not regret it at all, I am pretty sure and at the same time happy to be where I really want.
I believe that you have to love and enyoy your proffesion because in that way you will give and do your best in your job, otherwise; you will see it just like a salary that you have to receive.
One of my goals is to become a good teacher not only of English but also of french, and I want to put in practice all I have learned like all those good pieces of advice, the feedback for my teachers and my classmates and apply the correct the strategies.

I already took the practicum I with children ,and now I am doing my social hours at the poli in Fusalmo, helping like a teacher with teenagers in the Interactive English. Even tough, I have some experience working with teens I am aware that I really need to imrpove a lot of things like my confident and my nervoues at the begining of teaching a class so, I have to work hard on my weaknessess and I hope to give my best to this course !!

Now I want to share with you some of many things that got my attention and things that I did not know about the development of the brain .First, I did not have any Idea about that the behaviour of teenagers has a reason and is because they are in the process to deveolop some parts of the brain, they do not have develop the prefrontal cortex whcich the adults has so that makes them in most of the cases not to pay attention to the things they should do it because what is meaningful for them at this age are the trivial things like music. fashion, relationships, sex etc. Another important thing to know as a future teachers is that they are develop the limbic area so what this means is that they do not have a self control to mesure the consecuences about their decitions, and uncounciusly they like to be in risk and they are trying to be accepted in a group and that makes them to do what other´s friends do. Knowing this we have to look differents strageries, methods to make them get involve in the activities, we have to put in their shoes and understand that is not that they just want to misbehave but there is something that is happening in their brain about their emotions, and doubts.
Psychosocial changes.
what the scintifics say is that is Linked to the hormonal and neurodevelopmental changes that are taking place are psychosocial and emotional changes and increasing cognitive and intellectual capacities. Over the course of the second decade, adolescents develop stronger reasoning skills, logical and moral thinking. in other words what this says is that with the increase of these changes teens become more capable of abstract thinking and making rational judgements. Also, they are more able to take other people’s perspectives into consideration and often want to do something about the social issues that they encounter in their lives.
As a future teacher I think that I have to take those details into acount and do not forget that depending on all this knowledge we have to create our lesson plans in order to have in an effective way because now we already know those circunstances that without a doubt we are goint to encounter ,in one or more time. we have to look for solutions to face it with the best way like a professionals
Hello, Ale, I really like what you are doing for those adolescents at Fusalmo Foundation of El salvador. In my case I do the same, and yes I think that I also need to improve something when teaching. I hope you do better. On the other hand, I want to congratulate you for letting me read your analysis. I have learn something from it. In addition, I want to say that I am in agreement with you when you say that in the adolescence process teens are able to consider options in order to make better decisions.
ResponderEliminarHello Alejandre, i was reading your post, and as i see, you are right, the adolescence is a complicated stage in the live, and deal with students would be really difficult, because they do not have a self control to measure the consequences about their actions and decisions in many cases, also they are desperate to be involved or join to any social group inside to the school. And as you mentioned in your post “we have to put in their shoes and understand that is not that they just want to misbehave but there is something that is happening in their brain about their emotions, and doubts” I am agree with you. We know that they are in the middle the one of the biggest processes in their lives; we have to use the inf. that we know about teenagers en use it to encourage them and teach efficiently.
ResponderEliminarHi Alejandra. While I reading your post I discovered that you understood very well the topic of adolescence which will benefit you in several ways in your future professional life. Also Im agree with you when you appoint the importance of planning with meaningful ideas for them (teens) Because as we know the face several changes in their attitude towards homework and academical situations. So as you say we have to look for solutions as competitive professionals in the education field.
